Dr. Nancy Amir
Born in
Cairo, Egypt and grew up in Houston, Texas later moving
to Amarillo and graduating from Amarillo High School. Dr.
Amir graduated in 1992 from the University of Texas at Austin
with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and in 1996 from the University
of Houston with a degree in Optometry. While studying there,
she completed her residency in low vision under Dr. Randall Jose,
an internationally recognized low vision specialist, and completed
a Low Vision manual "The A-B-See's of Low Vision. After finishing
her residency in 1997, she settled in San Antonio, Texas
where she now resides with her husband, Dr. Farshid Amir. Dr.
Nancy Amir joined the founder of San Antonio Low Vision Clinic,
Dr. Kathleen Fraser-Freeman, as an associate and assumed ownership
in 2000 after Dr. Fraser-Freeman moved to Pittsburgh.
